Instructions for Replacing Fuser Film Sleeves

Improper installation will result in no-turning or damage of the film. In some cases you might find film tearing upon installation or tearing shortly after installation.

Be sure to use suitable high temperature grease (using wrong grease, e.g. low temperature resistance, will shorten the life span greatly)

Follow the instructions:

1. Take off the used/damaged fuser film sleeve from the fixing film assembly or fuser.

2. By preparing the assembly remove all grease remaining from the previous sleeve installation. Remove also the old grease from the end caps. Clean surface of heating element by using a Q-tip with alcohol.

3. Now apply grease to about 15-20 places on the surface of the ceramic heating element and on the side of the holders/fixtures. It proofed sufficient to spread it evenly over the surface with a wooden spatula.

Total amount of grease to apply is around 1 gram for Letter/A4, and 2.0 grams for A3 (wide) paper printer. Make sure no grease is applied to the surface of the film sleeve.

4. When removing the replacement film from its packaging take care. D'ont pinch or fold it.

5. While slipping the replacement film over the heating element core avoid all sharp edges that the replacement film may encounter. Turn the film a few rounds to make sure the grease is spread evenly on the inner surface of the replacement film. When you feel film turning is free, you can continue to assemble. Make sure no grease is applied to the surface of the film sleeve.

6. Position the film into heater. Make sure that the end with grounding ring of the film sleeve positions to the same end where in the fuser the grounding conductor is located. The end of the film with ground ring should be in good contact with the conductive rubber gear of pressure roller or the conductive brush after installation.

7. After the fuser assembly is reassembled, be sure to push both end caps inwards towards the center.
